Lowell Taylor
Registered Psychologist
My work is helping clients gain awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours as well as how their minds and bodies respond to their current and past situations. Each client and I work together to help make changes where they can, accept what they cannot change, and move toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life. The goal is to help develop a more positive mindset with the ability to make it through life’s challenges while being more present in each moment and to unlock each person’s greatest potential.
I provide counselling, coaching and consultation to individuals, couples, families, small and large groups. I work with teens, young adults, adults, and older adults.
My aim is to provide a safe environment to work toward the unique needs of each individual to help reach optimal health in mind, body, and soul. I strive to be part of the team of supports to get through the difficult areas and to help clients move toward the best versions of themselves in all areas of their lives (mental, physical, social, emotional, social, and spiritual). Focusing on the strengths of each individual and setting meaningful goals is a key aspect of the work.
People come to me for a wide range of issues – needing extra support to make it through the current challenges, struggles from the past or worries about the future. Developing mental toughness, gaining mental skills, and deepening their relationships with themselves and with others are all part of the therapy journey.
It takes great strength and courage to reach out for support and I strive to provide clients with a safe place to explore the issues by developing a strong therapeutic relationship.
My professional areas of interest include: Sports psychology, mental skills training, health and wellness, relationships, depression, anxiety, work and life stress, grief/loss, life transitions, personal growth, trauma, spirituality and faith issues, self esteem and self acceptance, finding meaning and purpose, sexuality issues and addiction concerns.
I use a wide variety of therapy styles depending on the needs of each client. These may include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Positive Psychology, Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Mental Performance Counselling, Emotional Focused Therapy, Biofeedback, Trauma Informed and Mindfulness approaches.
I am a visually impaired cyclist with Cycling Canada aiming for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in track and road cycling. My wife and I are health coaches on a TV documentary series called ‘Mind Set Go’ – trying to improve the wellbeing of Canadians, and we were competitors on The Amazing Race Canada Season 4. I love to be active, seek adventure, spend quality time with friends and family, learn, create and laugh.
I have been a Registered Psychologist since 2012 and have been working in the counselling field since 2009. I have a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
I currently offer morning, afternoon, and early evening appointment options throughout the week.
